For a long time, Suzanne Belperron was a mystery left unsolved by the world of jewelry. Her intense desire for privacy meant that she did not sign her own carefully crafted jewels. Eventually, after she was discovered designing for the House of Boivin and House of Herz, she simply remarked, "my style is my signature".
Despite the fact that her creations appeared next to Cartier, Boucheron, and Van Cleef & Arpels in magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, Belperron never opened a shop herself. Instead, the address to her studio was only shared through word of mouth, even for her famous clientele. From the Duke & Duchess of Windsor, to Diana Vreeland and Christian Dior, Belperron as a brand became increasingly successful in Paris and around the world.
True to her motto, Suzanne Belperron was talented and it showed in her dazzling designs. Characterized by audacious geometric shapes and untamable curved lines, vintage Belperron is still highly coveted. Many of her pieces, which frequently couple two-tone semiprecious metals with vibrant precious gemstones, can be found in the House of Belperron which opened in 2015 on Fifth Avenue. It is unsurprising that much of her inspiration stemmed from her fascination with the underwater world and distant lands such as India and Oceania. Her eternal style lives on, even providing the inspiration for Karl Lagerfeld's 2012 Chanel Spring-Summer collection.BACK TO SHOP

Made in France by celebrated jeweler Belperron, this ornate aquamarine and diamond Art Deco pendant is prong-set in platinum and 18K white gold. The 36.97 ct rectangular brilliant aquamarine center stone is flanked by 1.50 ctw of rose cut diamonds (0.05 ct each; color: H-I; clarity: I1), two emerald cut 0.06 ct aquamarine stones, and 12 round brilliant aquamarines (for a total carat weight of 0.72 ctw, at 0.05 ct each). The total carat weight of this piece is 40.53 ctw.
This piece is a notably rare find from the talented designer, considering Suzanne Belperron only produced traditional Art Deco styles in the early dawn of her career.
This pendant has an omega chain and a box clasp, and weighs 32.95 grams. The chain measures 68 cm, while the pendant itself is 5.9 x 2.6 cm. The piece is in very good condition with only minor scratching on the metal. It maintains a "750" marking with a hallmark.
