The earliest records of the LeCoultre family in Switzerland date from the 16th century, when Pierre LeCoultre, a French Huguenot, fled to Geneva to escape religious persecution.
In 1559, he acquired a plot of land in the Vallée de Joux, where his son later built a church, thereby founding of the village of Le Sentier...the company’s Manufacture is still based here today. Initially focused on horological parts innovation, the family began to manufacture complete watches in 1866.
Jacques-David LeCoultre then partnered with Parisian watchmaker, Edmond Jaeger, in 1907 to produce watches exclusively for Cartier.
They renamed the company Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937. Since Jaeger-LeCoultre’s founding, the company has produced over 1,242 different calibres, registered approximately 400 patents and created hundreds of inventions.BACK TO SHOP
