greater transparency around
the quality & pricing of fine jewelry
We want to make the process for determining value easier for both buyers and sellers. While the science of grading an item's raw material value is more straight forward, there is also an art to incorporating considerations around brand, designer, manufacturer, provenance and popularity of styles. Jewelry appraisal is - similarly to fine art appraisal - often quite subjective and, therefore, requires not only gemological knowledge but also deeper industry and market expertise.
We've partnered with one of the finest experts in the country for our appraisals, and make every assurance that there is in no way any personal incentive for this individual to inflate or deflate the estimated retail value of a given item.
ABOUT OUR APPRAISER
Scott Friedman has served as the Director of Business Development and Senior Appraiser at the world's largest independent jewelry valuation firm since 2005. He has Master Gemologist Appraiser status, a title held by only 46 appraisers in the world. While gaining jewelry market insight at GIA, in 2013 Friedman founded Rare Concept, a private diamond concierge that works with private collectors. His expertise in gems and jewelry is paired with a strong network within the trade, which had led him to consult for luxury brands as well as small independent designers.
