Ruby-Turquoise-Pearl-Emerald-Sapphire Stacking Ring, Circa 1940

According to some, acrostic jewelry was created by Jean-Baptiste Mellerio in 18th century Paris. Mellerio was the jeweler to Empress Josephine and Marie Antoinette. His idea of writing secret messages using the first letter of stones soon became a hit in nearby England. This acrostic ring is truly fit for Marie Antoinette herself with its 14K yellow gold band, blue sapphire, emerald, freshwater pearls, turquoise, and ruby. The brilliant cut stones of this 1940's ring spell out "SEPTR", a possible hint at the month of September. The mystique of this ring continues onto the band which features a "14K SWL" hallmark on the link. This trendy stacking ring weighs 9.03 g and carries a 0.77 total carat weight. It is in very good condition, with minor scratches on the shanks of the ring. It measures 1/2" x 5/8" in.

The stones include blue sapphire (0.02 ct each; 0.14 ctw), emerald (est. 0.02 ct each; 0.14 ctw), freshwater pearl (2.5 mm each), turquoise (est. 0.05 ct each; 0.25 ctw), and ruby (est. 0.02 ct; 0.14 ctw). The ring is a size 7 3/4, but may be resized if desired. Please note that all resized rings are final sale.
